Lighting to hire for your wedding & why it doesn’t have to be boring on a budget.

Some thoughts on lighting for weddings.

  • If your on a budget, go BIG with one thing

Don’t let the local DJ blind you with their party lighting bar. A big statement piece will impress everyone on the dancefloor. How about a giant 75cm or 1m mirror ball? Neon tubes and a smoke machine? A pair of lasers?

Even sound to light fixtures like Cameo’s HYDRABEAM 4000 are a great alternative to the cheap LED units we all know from the karaoke sessions in the back of our favourite pub.

  • Hire a lighting engineer to operate the stage lighting

A lighting operator will be able to turn a bunch of lights into a cohesive light show that will match the rhythm and pace of the music. If you are hiring a band this can really add some wow factor and production to the stage show as they can lessen the intensity during the bands pauses and add drama to key moments.

  • Small details matter

Simple table lights or fairy lights draped in the right part of a garden can really add a sense of space and intent to area. Walkways and hedge lines can be quickly transformed into a pretty pathway with some simple lighting techniques. It’s often quick to do and inexpensive to hire.

  • Why just see it in the day?

Got a great big oak tree next to the marquee? Hired a beautiful barn to host your wedding?

Flooding trees and buildings with light is an easy way to transform a dark and uninviting space into a colourful and atmospheric one.

  • Check its on a dimmer!

If your having a marquee wedding and have decided to go for a fairy light canopy, check with your supplier that they have provided a dimmer in the quote. Check that it can sufficiently dim the room to a level suitable for partying! We are constantly unplugging them when they are not provided by ourselves. Who wants to feel as though they are under strip lights at 1am on your big day?
